Guildford vs Cranleigh : A Friendly Turned Fierce

Under 13’s
On a sunny Sunday morning, Cranleigh RFC under 13’s, armed with their rugby balls and a sense of adventure, embarked on a journey to Guildford for what was optimistically termed a ‘friendly’.
Guildford, still nursing their bruised egos from last season’s defeat, had assembled their entire squad. It was as if they were preparing for the rugby equivalent of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
The first half started off like a polite British tea party with each team scoring a try each. However, Guildford soon decided to ditch the tea and crumpets and channel their inner Hulk. They began using their size and speed to run in several unanswered tries, leaving Cranleigh praying for the sweet relief of the half-time whistle.
The half-time pep talk was so passionate that it could have stirred a stone to action! With renewed vigour and some fresh legs off the bench, our boys stepped up their game in the second half. Special shout-outs to Vinnie, Riley, Everly, and Finn (who scored not one but two tries!). And let’s not forget Levi, who made a triumphant return from injury and made a significant difference in the second half.
The final score was something akin to ‘a mountain’ to ‘a molehill’, but hey, who’s counting? Remember, our greatest victories often follow our biggest disappointments.
Next Sunday we face Farnham. I’m sure the boys will be training like they’re preparing for an alien invasion this week. Onwards and upwards!
