After 18 months without competitive rugby at Wildwood Lane, we welcomed old rivals from last season Old Blues.
In the first 4 minutes, Old Blues capitalized on a penalty given by Cranleigh to gained a penalty kick in front of the post. Score 0-3
Old Blues picked up momentum and after a series of pick and goes the away side went over the white line. Score 0-10
With the frustration building on Cranleigh’s shoulders. The men in blue and red gave away penalty ending up with a high tackle from Cranleigh Second Row. This meant Old Blues could stretch their lead to 0-20 from a penalty try and time in the bin for the Cranleigh Player.
Old Blues score a try just before halftime making it 0-25 but a sensational interception try by Geoff Noonan from Cranleigh’s own 22 gave Cranleigh a glimpse of hope just before halftime. Half time score 7 – 25
Old Blues came out of the starting blocks putting an early score on the cranes, just after halftime. Score 7-32
Charlie Treasure helped bridge Cranleigh’s gap by his trademark, stepping 5 people and scoring under the posts to take the score to 14-32.
Old Blues continued to stretch their lead adding another 3 tries to the scoreline.
This wasn’t the result Cranleigh would have hope for but will look to change the result at Old Wimbledonians next weekend.
