Under 13’s
The match between Pulborough RFC 13’s and Cranleigh RFC 13’s was not just a battle between two teams but also between two counties. It was a game of rugby that had everything – plane spotting, slopes, and a mix-up from a kick off that led to a dramatic finish.
Cranleigh RFC 13’s started the game strongly, moving the ball well and scoring a try in the corner from Seb. However, Pulborough RFC 13’s rallied through their dominance in the scrum, along with the size and pace on the wing.
The first half ended with a score of 20-20, with further tries from Josh F, Finn, and Finley.
Playing uphill in the second half, Cranleigh RFC 13’s struggled to get a foothold in the game, and Pulborough were treated with three unanswered tries. Cranleigh, however, did not give up and rallied hard, scoring tries through Finn, Johnny, and Levi to bring the scores level with minutes to go. From the resulting kick-off, there was a mix-up in Cranleigh’s defence, and unfortunately, Pulborough crossed the line to end the game victors, 40-35.
Without a doubt, Cranleigh RFC 13’s played the best rugby and were unlucky with the result.
A special mention to Joss and Padg, who played all game in the front row and never gave up.
Good luck to Cranleigh RFC 13’s for their last game of 2023 this coming Sunday away at Camberley. I hope they get the big win they deserve.
