Cranleigh 50 Farnborough 19

Club friends Farnborough visited Cranleigh for a matchSunday.

The 2 teams have had a close relationship through the years, so it’s always nice to play matches against them.

With a good crowd on hand for Cranleigh’s first home game of the season, it was a positive start with Cranes scoring in the opening minutes; the ball being spread wide and Raz darting in.

Rhys as ever was kicking wonderfully from the tee and again was on the score sheet for another try.

It was a competitive match, but Cranleigh took their opportunities but boasted a mean defence, holding the Farnborough attack on several occasions.

Jack was awesome at scrum half, really taking to his new position and deserved the 2 try’s, all in true scrum half sniper fashion.

Torrin scored 2 try’s also to take his tally to 3 for the season and chipped in with a few conversations to cap a MOM performance. His link with the talented Rufus is developing into quite a centre partnership.

Finn piled over in the corner and capped a good day for the forwards with Leo and Bertie causing issues all around the pitch. Denis and Ryan didn’t take a step back and scrummaged brilliantly all day.

Ellis who had a cold, battled on and rampaged and tackled without a second thought.

Flyn who is a second row bravely and for the good of the team stepped in at prop and hooker at different points to help the team and was almost rewarded with a try but waspenalised for a double movement.

Peter proved to be not just muscle in the scrum but made an amazing try saving tackle to deny the opposition as the winger look like he was going to score in the corner.

Evan had his best game to date and showed so much speed to almost score a few times before having to come off injured.

A word for new recruits Alex and Finn who really made quite a debut. They will be quite an asset to the team. Involved from the start and showed a real hunger to make a difference.

Ryder who was started hist first game as a back for Cranleigh sped in for a well deserved try and showed how versatile he is.

Club captain Toby lead from the front coming on in the second half and kept his match tackle count at around 1000 tackles per game and filled in at wing and centre, to bring the boys home to a well-deserved victory.
