Victory for U13’s in Waterfall Cup Round 1

Under 13’s

The last time Cranleigh U13s had a competitive fixture was way back in  November 2024 when Biden was still president. The crowds were notably concerned of player fitness as they rolled on to the pitch.

Camberley arrived in force, hungry for another victory over the mighty Cranes. Our boys had other ideas. No one comes to fortress Cranleigh for an easy match.  Always a physically big side Camberley’s number 8  and second row were part boy, part redwood as they blocked out the sun. It was shaping up to be a true David and Goliath battle. The game started at incredible tempo, remaining throughout. The boys quickly burnt through their Christmas weight. Cranleighs speed to the ruck was critical, to which they dominated. Scrum half Tommy had a field day spinning the ball out to the pace filled back line like a bullet. The opposition had no answers to the Jason Robinson style side steps delivered from Percy and George. Destructive bull like  runs from Jordan, Charlie, James and Max exploited weakness in Camberley defensive line. The tempo and skill set from all the home players was simply no match for the opposition and the tries started to flow. Forwards and backs combining like a strawberries and cream, cheese and red wine, gin and tonic!

Every player played their part in what was a beautiful game to watch and well managed by the ref Tom White. To Camberley’s credit they never gave up and capitailsed on a few lapses in Cranleigh’s concentration, bringing the score line to a respectable close.  CRFC 7 tries to Camberley’s 2. In the post match press conference captain Percy said he could not be more prouder of the teams performance, they were sublime. The coaches Mike and Johnny said a few things to work on but what a start to our cup campaign, great effort from every player!

Next they face Effingham at home 26/01. Only sideline tickets still remaining so book you standing spot now. See you there!
