Women’s team makes history

This Sunday marks the inauguration of our new womens program here at Cranleigh, quite fittingly just a few days after the International Womens Day.

Just 7 months ago we decided as a club that in order to truly fulfil our identity as a community club, offering rugby for all, it was high time we gave the women of our community a chance to lace up their boots, pick up the egg shaped ball and take to the field.

Our first training session back in September was graced with just 4 keen players. However since then the numbers have slowly increased and we now have 3 times that number in our wider squad.
Sunday marks another milestone as we welcome Horsham Ladies, local rivals and our first opponents of the new era.

So I call upon our Cranes community, come on down this Sunday to support our women as they take on Horsham and bare witness to club history in the making as womens rugby returns to Wildwood Lane!
